About Al Rich & Son Construction
Albert Rich was born in the Adirondack Mountains in 1931. After serving in the Army in the Korean War, he moved to the Rochester area in the early 50’s and began his career in construction. In 1955 he started a company with a brother-in-law and they started building houses while still framing and siding houses for other builders. They had four crews with about 60 employees. Al downsized in 1968 and started Al Rich Remodeling.
Al had a son Alan in 1963 (to go along with two daughters). As Al Jr. grew, Dad let him come to the job site --- with little Al trying not to get under foot. Alan started working part time while in grammar school with Dad teaching him the trade as they went along. Al Jr. worked more and more hours and had greater and greater responsibilities as time went on.
In 1984, Al Jr. graduated with an A.A.S. in Civil Technology. It was at that time that Al Sr. took on Al Jr. as a partner and Al Rich & Son Construction Co. was born. Since that time we have done a wide range of jobs from small commercial (including 3M, Cantisano Foods and various local restaurants) to big and small residential.
We are pleased to say that, as we approach our 60th year in business, the same quality workmanship and dependability you have come to know has not changed. Since most of our work is based on referrals, we not only did work for the parents we’re now returning to do work for their children and even their grandchildren.
Not everyone knows or can visualize what the final project will look like so we pride ourselves in giving our customers ideas about how to (or not to) go about it. We will walk you through your project from start to finish. If you’re feeling a little “D.I.Y.-ish”, we will work with you as you do as much or as little of the project as you desire. Our goal is for you to have something that you will enjoy for years to come. The fun part for us is that no job is the same. It’s enjoyable for us when we can use new products and ideas and build something that will make our customers happy.
As always, we have all the required insurances and certifications. We continually attend seminars and trade shows to stay on top of the latest products. We are a proud member of the Better Contractors Bureau and are an E.P.A. lead certified contractor.
